Marrakech Day Trips include the coastal town of Essaouira, the waterfalls at Ouzoud, the High Atlas Mountains, valleys and villages (Ourika Valley, Ouirgane Valley and Imlil), the Kasbah of el Glaoui at Telouet and the World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou.
Options for a Day Trip or Excursion from Marrakech include the Atlas mountains, Berber villages e.g. Imlil, Ourika Valley, Setti Fatima, Kasbah Ait Benhaddou and the Berber village of Telouet with the abandoned Kasbah of el Glaoui.
In addition there is the pretty coastal town of Essaouira where you can ride a camel along the beach and explore the ramparts, discover the fishing harbour and eat fresh fish in one of the small cafes.

Marrakech day trip to Telouet via the Tizi-n-Tichka
8am meet your driver at your Hotel and transfer to the High Atlas Berber village of Telouet. Guided tour of the village including the ruined Kasbah of the Pasha of the Glaoua and the small village where the descendants of the black slaves of the Pasha live; visit a Berber family for mint tea. Lunch in a Berber House followed by an optional guided walk (easy) along the valley floor gardens where the local community grows crops e.g. cereals, mint, and alfalfa. Mid-afternoon transfer to Marrakech; your driver will drop you off at your Hotel.
If you visit Telouet on a Thursday, include a tour of the village souk. Weekly markets (souks) play a major part in the life of a Moroccan village; each Thursday morning in Telouet there is a colourful and traditional market where people from a vast area come, often by donkey, to shop for seed, live animals, dates, herbs & spices, fruit & vegetables and household goods.
Trekking from Telouet is a fantastic way to pass a couple of days from Marrakech in the summer; winters can be bitterly cold at night. Take a guided walk along the valleys where the local communities grow their crops or mule trek, with a guide, from village to village; stay with Berber families and wild camp beside a mountain lake. 8am meet your driver at your Hotel and transfer to the Ourika Valley; detour to Oukaimeden (only possible in summer as the route is usually snow-covered autumn to late spring) and see some of the most amazing views across the High Atlas. From Oukaimeden return to the Ourika Valley and continue to the Berber Village of Setti Fatima where you can walk to the waterfalls (45minutes, walking shoes required). Return to Setti Fattima and lunch in one of the Berber Cafes before returning to Marrakech. Tours usually return to Marrakech in the late afternoon but you can take your time and enjoy your day out; returning to Marrakech as it suits you.

Essouira, a former Portuguese Colony, is one of the Morocco’s most enjoyable coastal towns with cafes, galleries, craftshops and fishing boats. Everything in the medina is within walking distance and, in summer, this is where you will find Moroccan families escaping from the heat of Marrakech. Also known as 'Windy City' it attracts surfers and, in summer, musicians from all over Africa for the annual Music Festival.

8am meet your driver at your Hotel and transfer across the highest Atlas road pass of the Tizi-n-Tichka with far-reaching views of mountains, villages and valleys.
Arrive in Ait Benhaddou in time for lunch and then stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. Often called one of the most spectacular sites of the Atlas, Kasbah Ait Benhaddou once offered shelter to the trans-Saharan camel caravans on the final let of their journey to the souks of Marrakech - the trail across the Tizi-n-Telouet to the Berber village of Telouet and then on to Marrakech.
