Our 3 day desert tours from Marrakech, with an Erg Chebbi camel trek, are perfect for anyone on a budget or with limited time. Our Marakech Sahara trips, designed to make the best use of the time available, are a quick introduction to Morocco from the Atlas mountains to the sands of the Sahara.
Sahara camel treks are the highlight of our Marrakech 3-day desert tours that also include a night in the oasis valley of Dades gorge. Our budget Sahara trips, in a minibus with driver, are designed as a quick introduction to Morocco with a one night Merzouga camel trek into the dunes of the Erg Chebbi sand sea.
Arrive in Merzouga, a village at the base of the Erg Chebbi dunes, where your camels and a desert guide will be waiting. Camel trek at sunset to your shelter for the night – a Bedouin tent hand-made of camel hair. After a freshly prepared meal of tagine is usual for the desert guides to sing traditional Berber songs.
Included in our short Morocco desert tours from Marrakech, in addition to a Merzouga camel trek, are the Atlas Mountains, Ouarzazate, Dades Gorge, the valley of 1000 kasbahs, traditional Berber villages and rose-filled gardens in Spring.

Sahara Trips from Marrakech - 3 day Desert Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Marrakech to Dades Gorge. Meet at 8am and escape from the bustle of Marrakech as we head towards and over the highest Atlas road pass of the Tizi-n-Tichka with far-reaching views over the mountains, valleys and Berber villages. After a relaxing lunch in Ouarzazate, around the pool or in an air-conditioned salon in summer, continue to Boumalne du Dades and leave the main road to travel along the oasis valley gorge of the River Dades. Overnight in a hotel in the Valley with evening meal and breakfast included.
Day 2 – Dades Gorge to Merzouga. 9am start from the valley towards Merzouga and the golden sand dunes of the Erg Chebbi sand seas. With a break for lunch along the route we will arrive in the desert village of Merzouga in the afternoon where our desert guide and camels will be waiting. Camel trekking in the Sahara is the highlight of all our Morocco Desert Tours and here is your opportunity to experience the desert at the leisurely pace of a camel in the experienced hands of a desert guide. Merzouga Camel treks into the Erg Chebbi dunes are 1.5hrs to the desert camp and the nomad tent for your one night desert experience. Overnight in a nomad tent with evening meal and breakfast included.
Day 3 – Merzouga to Marrakech. Wake early to watch the sunrise and camel trek back to Merzouga. Freshen up and depart direct to Marrakech to arrive early evening. PAGE TOP
What is included in the cost of Sahara Trips from Marrakech
A 3-day Sahara Desert Trip from Marrakech includes transport with driver and fuel, one night in a hotel with evening meal and breakfast included, a one night (overnight) camel trek in Erg Chigaga to include camel per person, camel guide, evening meal and breakfast.
Excluded in the cost of the trip are lunches, beverages including mineral water and tips.

Comfy, baggy clothes are essential for riding a camel and, in winter, layers and a wind-proof jacket. Blankets are provided but a sleeping-bag liner is recommended in summer and a sleeping bag in autumn through spring; we provide a list of 'camel trekking' essentials.
PAGE TOPTime Spent Camel Trekking from Merzouga
Camel treks from Merzouga into the Erg Chebbi sand dunes last approximately 1.5hrs to 2hrs. During this time the camels, lead by camel guides, cross the sandy ridges of the dunes to the desert camp where accommodation is in nomad tents. In the morning the return camel trek to Merzouga lasts the same length of time.
